For ease of reading, I'll be concise. I personally like this wheel quite a bit, but it did take some getting used to. The most obvious first thing is the feedback of the wheel. Rather than use an auto-centering device, this wheel has resistance, much like a small car with no power steering. It can seem stiff at first, but seems to loosen up a bit after some use. It's a little different approach than many others take, but actually works well once you get the hang of it. The wireless is stable, but I did get interference at one point (which I actually found hilarious...just the one time was not enough for it to become a nuisance). Ergonomically, the wheel itself feels good, with very aggressive suction mounting for tabletop use and a decent enough set of dimensions for laptop use. Only gripe here is that the torque to operate the wheel is enough to knock it off my lap when using one hand on the wheel and one on the shifter. Tabletop is much nicer. Speaking of the shifter, a seperate unit or moving it back and to the right a bit would help realism immensly. It's a touch awkward, and for that matter, could use a little more resistance. Now for the pedals. As far as feel goes, they could be a touch larger and further apart. When is someone(to my knowledge, nobody has addressed this) going to have an appropriate resistance built into the brake pedals? This has plagued every racing wheel I have encountered. Also, it took me awhile to figure out that the pedals should not be touched when turning on the wheel AND the xbox. It got to the point that I had to email pelican support to see if there was a problem with the throttle pedal potentiometer or the mechanical portion of the control (everything checked out after some thorough testing of pedal travel, voltage sweep, etc. Yes I went through this much trouble). After getting the startup procedure down and getting comfortable with the controller itself, I was able to match at very least and for the most part exceed my performances in my collection of racing games of the xbox. Now that the meat and potatoes is served, here comes the dessert. This thing is pretty nifty in the sense of bells and whistles. For instance, being wireless, it runs on batteries (not included). So instead of the usual low battery light they incorporated a small 'fuel' gauge into the control. Nifty. The control itself has a fixed button map, but with the exception of the right analog stick everything is present and in useful positions. For the record, as well, the button map basically mimics most default controller settings, and usually only minor tweaks are necessary. One thing they threw into the mix that is actually very helpful is the inclusion of a left analog stick in the frame of the steering wheel. This can be used back and forth with the wheel (they both do the same job), but not at the same time, thanks to an internal software delay that detects the switch from stick to wheel and vice versa. Due to this the D-pad is located down on the base, as it is rarely needed anyway. Construction is sound, which I can say comfortably as I have already opened the unit to investigate the possibility of adding springs to the shifter and pedals (looks very possible, by the way). Overall I am very happy with this product, although the learning curve to get the most out of it might be a bit much for people with short attention spans, which basically means that younger players may not have a very good time with this one. Overall I am happy with my purchase, as I have been with other products from pelican. So much for being concise.
