(More customer reviews)My honest opinion on DBZ Supersonic Warriors 2?? Well, let's just say the developers took the original design and amped it up a bit with some serious frenetic speed and visuals to match. What makes this game so special is its' three on three battles. The look and feel of the anime is definitely felt in this game, just as in Shin Budokai for the PSP. And, just as in that PSP game, this game will have you playing for quite sometime. Although, if you're expecting this game to be exactly like Shin Budokai, it's not. This is a Dragonball Z game that plays more like a Street Fighter game, in a 3-D environment. Control is good, although I would've loved for them to implement the DS touch pad into the gameplay more. The only thing it's used for in the game is swapping characters or summoning a team attack. At any rate, with the serious lack of fighting games for the DS at the moment, Supersonic Warriors 2 definitely holds the title for the best fighter for the DS thus far.

Like any game, though, it has it's share of flaws. Like players not being perfectly matched in the game, the fighting mechanics(punching and kicking) not being fleshed out enough, or the fact that you basically have to learn the ins & outs of the game before you get somewhere. Still, those flaws don't mar an otherwise perfect DBZ game. Production values were definitely high on this game.

Overall, if you're a DS owner who's into fighting games or the DBZ license in particular, Dragonball Z Supersonic Warriors 2 will definitely fill your appetite.

(More customer reviews)While Super Dragonball Z is a worthy game to add to your DBZ game collection and is a blast to play, don't come into it expecting it to have that hyperkinetic flash and energy of other DBZ games(like the Budokai series)or it being a serious technical fighter(like Tekken, Dead or Alive, or Virtua Fighter) because it isn't either one. What it is, however, is a traditional fighting game that feels old school yet new school all at the same time.

Watching the intro to Super Dragonball Z, you can tell a new take is being made on the DBZ universe. Upon playing the game, you realize that a more serious approach has been taken to the battles between our beloved characters from the classic anime series. Characters(18 in all) are placed in free-roaming, destructible sandbox levels(kinda like those in Power Stone)to battle it out. In my honest opinion, I think this form of engine better suits DBZ. It adds alot more strategically to the game. Course, it's good to see Atari having developers come out with new ways to play DBZ. If you want to get the most out of the game, though, you'll first want to create your own character card. There- you'll pick a character from one of the 18 presented, give it a custom name, and choose from a few sets of color palettes. Every time you finish a fight, you're awarded battle points. Getting enough battle points will give you access to a skill tree, where you can customize certain character properties and assign new moves to your character. Playing through the original arcade mode, as well as the survival mode, can get you Dragon Balls. Once you collect all seven Dragon Balls on your character card, you can summon the dragon Shenron, who will grant you a wish, which can range from giving you an additional color palette for your character to unlocking a whole new character. This addition is more than enough reason to keep coming back & playing.

The two biggest gripes I have with Super Dragonball Z is the character list to choose from for battle is just too small and there isn't any story to speak of, just fighting.

Beyond that, Super Dragonball Z does make a good first impression. I hope this isn't the last we see of it.

On wii launch day, as I sat sipping myhot chocolate and thinking about what other game I would get (other than Zelda) and I saw a poster for this game. Im a big fan of Dragonball Z, and I saw it has 120 characters. I didnt even KNOW that there were 120 fighters inexsistence, so I got this game. What a pleasent surprise this was.

The controlls are pretty good, but, dispite this being on the wii, it's still a button masher. You have to hammer away at the poor 'A' button. Energy attacks, however, are a bit more fun. You make motions to corrispond with the attack you are using (for example, kamehameha is back and foreword and spiri bomb is up, then down.) Pretty fun stuff.The arenas are pretty cool too. you get a HUGE circle to fly around in, and EVERY SINGLE THING in it can be destroyed. (including your opponent! xD) As you smash the area around you, sometimes a dragonball will apear. collect all 7, and you get a special skill capsule.

Of course, the real crowning achivement, the reason most people who wouldnt normally buy this game will buy this game, is the number of fighters. The box says 'over 120 characters!' This is misleading though. There is 120, but that includes the characters and their transformations. For example, Goku, SS Goku, SS2 Goku, and SS3 Goku all count as seperate people. Still, you still get about 90 different people, which isn't too shabby. Fighters include:

Goku, Gohan, (the rest of the 'crew') Tapion, Lord slug, Pikkon, Giant ape (FINALLY!) cui, bardock, Androids 16-20, android 13, all the main villens, (buu, cell, etc.) master roshi/jackie chun, plus tons more.

Overall, this is a great game that will probably be overlooked by many. too bad, though, because this is really one of the best fighting games ive played, even if it wasnt about DBZ.
