Beavis and Butt-head: Bunghole in One Review

Beavis and Butt-head: Bunghole in One

I downloaded the "Bunghole in One" demo from the Internet, and decided I had to get this pc game. Yeah, I know it's an old pc game featuring Beavis and Butt-Head before their show ended. But being a new B and B fan, I had to get it.I purchased it used, yet in good condition, and at a very low price!

I'm quite surprised by some of the negative reviews this game received on other websites. I found it a lot of fun! The 18 holes are unique interactive settings based on the series (i.e. Butt-Head's living room and couch; Mr. Van Driessen's 'Dream Land' complete with lava lamps; Burger World; Mr. Anderson's poolside, etc.) Each hole has its own musical score and sound effects.

The 18th hole, featuring Beavis' alter-ego Cornholio, has quite an imaginative setting! It's a miniature Candyland with candies, soda, coffee and/or C(r)appuccino, coffee cups and, yes, Cornholio's beloved TP. The musical score for this setting makes me think of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde; especially when Beavis becomes Cornholio following his sugar fix.

The funky music at the game's end credits is danceable. I find myself moving my head to the beat.In addition, I like to imagine seeing Beavis and Butt-Head doing their famous rump-shaking dance moves (like in the music video segments of their show) to the music!

My only reservation is why must Hole 10 take place in a cemetery?! That's a pretty grim setting for a fun game. Thankfully when Beavis and Butt-Head play, they make amusing comments which help lift the gloomy atmosphere.

Otherwise, it's fun! I individually 'assisted' Beavis and Butt-Head (well, Butt-Head, first; then Beavis) in helping them make the holes. Some of the holes were challenging, and it took a while for me to figure out how to putt the ball into the holes. But I made sure to help MTV's, and America's, beloved dum-dums win!

Best of all, I had a ball making Todd the bully mess up! I deliberately dragged out each game, making Todd putt the ball either hard and/or wide, backwards, then back to the starting point. I did not control his moves to make the game easy. I enabled Beavis and Butt-Head to finish their games in a fair amount of time. For Todd, I stretched the game to roughly about an hour, making Todd screw up his moves; then go back to the starting point. When he'd finally get the ball into the hole (with no assistance on MY part), he would complain 'What the hell's goin' on here?!" I would break up in laughter. For fans who care about Beavis and Butt-Head, here's your chance to give Todd a taste of his own medicine! Now, YOU can kick Todd's butt, instead, by frustrating his moves here in this game!

Over the weekend, I'll play it again with the remaining decent characters, Mr. Van Driessen, Mr. Anderson and Principal McVicker. I'll help them to win, along with Beavis and Butt-Head, again. Todd is clearly on his own.

And.. uh...oh, yeah! Beavis and Butt-Head look rather stylish (or 'pretty cool!') in 1930's golf wear!

SPQR: The Empire's Darkest Hour (PC) Review

SPQR: The Empire's Darkest Hour
Average Reviews:

There is a number of things a buyer should be aware of, when considering this game:

1. The description does NOT state what operating system this game requires! Check with the seller before you buy! (I played it on XP but I'm not sure abut the specific requirements...)

2. Even though the graphics are great, there is no action or interaction with other characters. You are ALONE in the city.

3. Some of the puzzles are really difficult to solve, and there are no clues to help you out. It is try try try try try -get annoyed- try try try try try - get really annoyed - try try try try try - (at this point you want to smash it to pieces) try try try try try - give up. The estimated learning time is set at 1.5 to 3 hours) I found the Atlantis puzzle games much more enjoyable.

4. If you are not a crazy teen gamer, you will likely need to get the companion 'cheat' book to get on with the game. Which will ruin the whole effect of the - solve it your self/ boggle your brain - thing.

This game is a point-and-click puzzle adventure in the style of Myst, SPQR pits you against the mysterious Calamitus, an anonymous enemy of the Empire who threatens its very existence in the year 205 A.D. You must uncover his identity before his machinations succeed in bringing down the state.

I know there are a lot of gamers who liked the game, but by large most people will find the same problems with the game.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories Review

Yu-Gi-Oh Dark Duel Stories
Average Reviews:

As far as gameboy color standards go, this is one of the best games made. The fact that you can duel people that you see on tv gives this game an extra aspect of fun. When you first begin you start out with a pretty good deck, so even if you dont know stuff about the game you still have a good chance. When you start to get tired of it because you cant win, there are plenty of scret passwords to help you there. Also, I collect the cards and now that I have this, I wish I had boughten it sooner. One because its fun, and two, the prices of cards really add up, so with thisgame you dont have to spend as much time and money going out and buying cards.Further more, if you do collect the cards, than this game will help you in two ways. One, is that its a good simulator for a real duel so it keeps you on your feet for real duels.Twoit comes with three of the best cards in the game, Dark Magician, Blue Eyes White Dragon, and a piece of Exodia the forbidden one!!This is a really great game for those who watch the show or play the card game, but also for those who want a level of card play higher than pokemon but not as violent as magic the gathering.

Pinball Dreams Review

Pinball Dreams
Average Reviews:

After ordering the Gottlieb & Williams collections for the PS2, I decided to put these games back in for a little practice & they are still fun 15 years later.

No adjustable camera angles back then so you often have to guess which flipper the ball is headed back to is a def drawback but the games are more fun than about 1/2 the games in the Gottlieb collection so this is a nice pickup years later.

The 4 games are:

Steel Wheel - Railroad/Western theme.
Nightmare - "Halloween theme".
Ignition - Space theme.
Beat Box - Music theme.

If you like this, you should also like Pinball Fantasies.Def. pick up the Williams collection 1st/also if you don't have it though

Critical Depth Review

Critical Depth
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Critical Depth came about in a time when Sony's 989 Studios took the Twisted Metal & Jet Moto licenses back from Developer Singletrac and decided to make their own versions of those games. I, like many others, was a huge Singletrac supporter back in the day. Their Twisted Metal & Jet Moto games were simply fun, addictive and challenging. Yet, when they created new games for GT Interactive in the vein of their old licenses, that's when I think Singletrac did some of their best work. That's not to say that any of their older properties weren't as good...Twisted Metal 1&2 and Jet Moto 1&2 are classics. It's just they came up with new ideas for these games that actually worked and I, personally, would've loved to see sequels to these games. Sadly, though, we'll never get that chance.

One such case is Critical Depth. Think of it as a Twisted Metal but with an underwater theme. There's more to this one, though, as the story goes like this...Douglas McKragen(an undersea explorer)comes up missing when he discovers fives alien-pods underwater. Twelve different factions enter the sea to find out more about these pods and set a course to uncover this mystery. The games' cast include the nefarious Dr. A. Pocalypse captaining the Armageddon (which can trap subs with a grappling hook); the revolutionary organization the VLO with The Anarchy (which drops spiky metal balls); several men-in-black types from the CIA with The Manta (which fires a deadly electromagnetic ray); the Soviet Die-Hards and The Stalingrad (a slow but strong ramming ship); the Indiana Jones-like Professor Armstrong and The Archimedes (which is a rapid-firing Jules Verne-type sub); Greenpeace wanna-bes Team Earth Hope and the Mean Peace (which shoots a dolphin-shaped torpedo); ex-children's show host Captain Cutlass with the Sea Dog (yep, it blasts cannon balls); the evil Mordrid Corporation and the Bottom Liner (which steals weapons); Jack "Lockjaw" Keon and The Lockjaw (a shark-like sub with a bite); Deadhead Joe Skullion and the Death Sled (which shoots trippy-colored discs that stun); the mystical Order of Nishroch and the Ohm (which casts energy blasts); and The French Oceanographers and the La Griffe (which has crushing mechanical arms). This cast is just as memorable as those in Twisted Metal. It has three modes of play...The Story mode where you(and a friend, if you like) plays through eleven levels to find out your faction's involvement in it all, The Battle mode which has you being the first to capture all the pods in the level, and the Deathmatch mode which is, basically, where you fight against a friend or the game itself in split-screen. Instead of annihilating your enemies as in Twisted Metal, your objective in this game is to find the orbs in each level and head for the escape gateway. But, trust me, you'll have your work cut out for you trying to. Another difference between this game and Twisted Metal is that Twisted Metal is blisteringly fast while Critical Depth is a more slow and plodding game. Make no mistake, it is definitely better for that reason. Besides, it has to be slow to give the illusion you're underwater, anyhow.

Now, on to my gripes about the game of which there is only one...the graphics. Compared to all the other games Singletrac made up to this point, this game looks pretty rough, grainy and washed out. Yet, that point is not so much a big deal. It's the gameplay that counts, right??? Singletrac's next game, Rogue Trip Vacation 2012, more than made up for all that in the graphics department.

This 10 year old game is still a blast to play. If you have an old PS you can play this game on, I suggest you do so. If not, push Sony's Online store to release this for your PS3 or PSP. You'll be glad you did.

If the action becomes too much for you, have a friend help you out with the cooperative play option. If asking for help is not your style, play against your friends in the Battle mode in which both of you try to capture the pods and escape, or a death match, where blasting subs into tiny bits is the order of the day.
